I'm not sure how things went in the States, but here in Paris, on 'rentree' September 1st, the summer took its departure. Quickly. The sunny days, blue skies and warm weather all said '...until next year, Peace Out! Which is kinda okay with me since Paris doesn't really get down with A/C so there were a few days this summer where I was downright miserable.
Fall brings with it so many amazing things. Replace that strawberry lemonade with a crisp apple cider (chilled or warm). Order a pumpkin spice latte at Starbucks. Swap out some of those crisp white wines for a heavier white like one from Jura, France. Replace those rosés with a big bold red like a Gigondas from the southern Rhone Valley of France.
Pumpkin and Oktoberfest beers are on the shelves, but you have to act quickly on those…they may not make it to October! Southern Tier’s Pumking and Heavy Seas Great Pumpkin are a couple of my faves.
So, now that the sun sets a little sooner, just think of that as more time to sit back, pour yourself a snifter of Armagnac and relax. Goodbye summer. It's okay, I love blazers and boots anyway!
