Wine and Chocolate

Wine and Chocolate

Well, since I'm here in Chicago (STILL!) I may as well make a lil change and use my skills for good. I'm hosting a wine tasting. Special shout out to my sister EJ for letting me use one of her properties (she's a real estate developer) to host this event.

Valentine's Day is this week and since I'm not getting chocolate from a dude, might as well just buy it for myself, and some wine and talk to people about it.

As a starter, I made a cocktail of Freixenet Cava, pisco, lime juice and pineapple juice. The crowd loved it!! I always like to start my tastings with something sparkling, whether it be a cocktail or just the bubbly in a glass. People just don't drink sparkling wine enough! Don't wait for a special occasion, Thursday is special lol.

Now for the real deal, serious part, what you've been waiting for, the pairings. (Sorry there aren't better pics of the bottles and things, I was busy talking and gave someone else my phone) Or maybe you should've just been there!! HA!

  • White Chocolate - Mouton Noir's Love Drunk rosé
  • Milk Chocolate - Mionetto Lambrusco (Italian sparkling wine)
  • Milk Chocolate with Caramel - Old Vines Zinfandel
  • Dark Chocolate - Cockburn's Tawny Port

Best pairing was the Dark Chocolate with the Port. This crowd finished that bottle and bought the extra one I had. And they def ate all the chocolate! Which is great, I did not need to bring that back home.

As with any group, I had a couple of troublemakers.

I didn't separate them because this was a fun and light-hearted event and I just wanted people to enjoy themselves. Besides, I had already gotten paid hahaha!

All in all, it was an excellent tasting and a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I hope I don't have another though as I want to go back to Paris!
