Absinthe Pop-Up (Paris Cocktail Week cont’d)
There is a private cocktail group in Paris called The Chamber that hosts monthly events to educate, enlighten and entertain surrounding spirits, cocktails and the cocktail scene in Paris. For Paris Cocktail Week they hosted a pop-up for a small group of individuals featuring Pernod Absinthe. Matt from Pernod gave a talk on the common myths (it doesn’t really make you crazy) surrounding this revitalized spirit.
I can say that I wasn’t the biggest fan of absinthe previously, but it’s mainly because I didn’t know much about it. Having it with sugar, the official and correct way, made a huge difference! Then the cocktail, The Green Beast, was served…I’m a fan!
A trip to Lulu White, a cocktail bar focusing on absinthe continued the education. With several different styles of absinthe and cocktails available. I can truly say that I walked away with a much better understanding and appreciation of the spirit.
Pernod Green Beast
- 1 part Pernod Absinthe
- 1 part simple syrup
- 1 part fresh lime juice
Shake Well. Pour into glass and top with fresh water. Garnish with a cucumber slice
