Cocktails for a Crowd

I love it when I have the opportunity to meet people whose articles I’ve read or I’ve chatted with them on Twitter. I’ve been following Kara Newman for quite some time…slightly jealous of her being a working spirits reviewer for Wine Enthusiast and a book author. But it’s fine, she’s super cool on Twitter! When she said her book tour was bringing her through DC, well clearly I was showing up!

Held at Salt & Sundry in Union Market, Kara Newman debuted her book to DC, Cocktails for a Crowd! And to show just how well she can make said cocktails for a crowd, we were treated to a punch bowl of French 75’s. Well, maybe not the whole punchbowl, but enough to wet your whistle. Red Hen provided snacks in the form of Chicken Liver Mousse w/Thyme on Crostini.

Kara graciously chatted with me about her process, the book, her visit to DC so far. Her favorite recipe from the book is the Negroni. She makes a batch and puts it in the fridge to pull out and pour at ease. What a great idea!! The book is also great for summer entertaining, why be stuck behind a bar or in the kitchen?? Make a punch, can even be done ahead of time, put it in a nice bowl, enjoy your guests!!

Interested in making cocktails for a crowd as you entertain?? Kara signed a book for me, and I’d like to give it to you!!! What event do you have coming up or why do you feel you need this book?¬†
