I am always in the mood for a new spot, always. Being in a new city allows for plenty of new spots. And everyone wants to take me to their favorites. It’s cool though, I’m here for that.
This Chicago Speakeasy, The Violet Hour, was amazing! Super modern and nondescript outside. You see that white wall top left, yeah, that’s it. Like I walked past it. But you probably won’t have that problem as there’ll be a line outside so you’ll know where it is.
Luckily the line wasn’t too long when we got there so we just waited in line inside. The host asked for the next large party, but there were only 2 of us. There were 3 in the party behind us so….we all raised our hands and said ‘Party of 5’! We made 3 new friends and had a great night drinking cocktails.
Apricot eau-de-vie, Campari, Lemon, Honey Syrup
The Smokey Robinson
Sheep Dip scotch, Lemon, Orgeat, Egg White, Amaro Abano
North Shore aquavit, lemon, Carpano Antica, Orgeat, egg yolk, Peychaud’s
As for the grainy pics and no cocktail photos, no cell phone usage inside of the space. Not sure what they would’ve done if they caught me, but clearly I didn’t want to find out.
