No Moscato Monday

As I sit here bracing for the storm, and enjoying to electricity, I’m blogging like crazy!! Hopefully I won’t be stuck in the house too long since I have the day off from work today :-) But when you get a chance, the next wine you should step out and try is Viognier.

Viognier, pronounced vee ohn YAY, is an aromatic white grape originating in France. This varietal contains a high level of sugar, which in turn makes for fairly high alcohol once fermented. But instead of this being a ‘sweet’ wine, think ripe tropical fruits, even some peach and apricot appear in the mix. Best regions for Viognier, France and Virginia.
